This is my second attempt on watercolors. This is an illustration made for a short story titled "Gasp", published on 29th March '09, in a national newspaper, the Jakarta Post. The story's kinda full of metaphores: the pond (the water element on the chest) is the man's conscience, the lizards is a symbol of renewal (when they shed their skins) and the lift on the background is like a trancendental-vertical way up to another new life path for the man. And the files, well, I think of it as a messy piles of memories of life that fills his head.
It was weird and exciting to do, I was experimenting on this and that, but I'm quite satisfied with the result. I wanna say zillion thanx to for helping me to understand the artsy ballsy short story and her valuable suggestions for the drawing. She is a genius indeed.
Thx heaps! I used a Windsor n Newton paper.. However it's kinda old paper, I bought it about 7 years ago, so it is a bit aging.. I think it adds the vintageness on it.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
